Introduction. The Canada Vibe is built on a “Privacy-First” philosophy. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information could be processed when you use our public website, what we deliberately avoid collecting, and how we align our practices with a modern, security-conscious experience. By using the site, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.
We don’t know who you are — and we’re good with that.
Scope
This Policy applies to thecanadavibe.com and its static pages and tools as made available to the public. It does not govern third-party websites, embedded content from other domains, or official government portals you may open from links we provide.
Data collection & processing
We do not operate a sign-in system for end users, and we do not maintain a customer database of your salary, deductions, or lifestyle inputs tied to your name or email on our servers for the core calculator experience. Salary figures you enter are processed in your browser to produce on-screen estimates; we do not design the product around transmitting those inputs to us as a stored profile.
Because the site is delivered over the public internet, routine technical metadata (such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps) may be visible to infrastructure providers that host or protect the site, typically in aggregated or security-oriented logs. Where analytics are enabled, we configure them toward aggregate measurement rather than building individual dossiers on visitors.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your inputs to train proprietary machine-learning models on our side in a way that identifies you.
Cookie policy & browser storage (detailed)
Cookies. Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website or by third-party services the site loads. First-party cookies (set by our domain or deployment) may support essential operations such as security, load balancing, or remembering lightweight preferences. Third-party cookies may be set by analytics or advertising partners if their scripts are present; those partners maintain their own policies and controls.
Local storage vs. cookies. Modern browsers also offer mechanisms such as localStorage and sessionStorage, which allow data to remain on your device for UX features (for example, remembering that you dismissed a notice until you clear site data). Unlike traditional cookies, these APIs are not automatically transmitted on every HTTP request in the same way; however, scripts running on the page can read or write them. The Canada Vibe may use browser storage only for non-identifying, client-side convenience where implemented (such as UI state). We do not treat browser storage as a substitute for a user account database, and we do not use it to collect salary history as a personally identifiable record on our systems.
Your controls. You can manage cookies and site data through your browser settings (clear cookies, block third-party cookies, or use private browsing). Doing so may affect analytics accuracy from your session’s perspective and may reset on-device preferences.
Cookies & anonymous analytics
We may use standard, industry-typical analytics (for example, Google Analytics and/or Vercel Web Analytics or similar) to understand aggregate traffic: page views, approximate geography at a regional level, device categories, and performance metrics. These tools help us prioritize improvements. We aim to use them in a way that emphasizes patterns, not surveillance of named individuals. Where available, we respect browser signals and platform settings related to analytics and advertising.
Information security (SSL / HTTPS)
We serve the site over HTTPS using TLS (SSL is commonly used as shorthand). Transport encryption helps protect the confidentiality and integrity of data exchanged between your browser and our hosting edge while you browse: it reduces the risk of casual eavesdropping on public Wi-Fi and helps prevent trivial tampering in transit. HTTPS does not, by itself, guarantee that every script on a page is benign; you should still keep your browser updated and exercise caution with downloads and extensions.
Security is a shared responsibility. If you believe you have discovered a vulnerability, please contact us through reasonable channels with enough detail for reproduction without destructive testing.
Children’s privacy (COPPA alignment)
The Canada Vibe is intended for a general adult audience interested in Canadian payroll and tax literacy. We do not knowingly target children under 13 (U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, “COPPA”) or under 16 where stricter age-gated regimes apply, and we do not market the service as a children’s product. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has provided personal information to us in a way that concerns you, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to address the issue.
Third-party links
We link to official Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and other reputable resources for your convenience. External sites have independent privacy practices. We are not responsible for their content, cookies, or data handling once you leave our domain.
International visitors
Our editorial focus is Canada. If you access the site from the United States or elsewhere, your information may transit through global networks and cloud regions as part of normal hosting. This Policy is written in English and should be read alongside applicable local law where it differs.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or security best practices. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be highlighted elsewhere on the site where practical. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy, except where prohibited law requires additional consent.
